The following picture is the main gate at the Alexandria AFB, Louisiana (later England AFB) back in 1951. It was sent to Charlie Wells by a good friend - Bill Shields, who was at Alexandria in 1951 also and went to France with the wing. He was also Best man at Charlie's wedding in October 1953. The 3 guys standing in front of the Base sign at the front gate were: Tom Marshall, Bill Webster & Walter Dawson. I knew Walter but don't remember the other 2. |
| We want to thank Charlie Wells for the following pictures and narratives. Charlie was assigned to the 137th FMS Engine Shop, Alexandria AFB from July 1951 until May 1952. He left Alexandria AFB in May 1953 for Chaumont, France with the wing and returned to England AFB, 366th FMS Jet Test cells in June 1956. He was transferred to the 401st in 1958 until Feb 61 when he was shipped back to France and on to Torrejon. Charlie has many friends and fond memories from his days in the Alexandria area.
